In Review: Munger and Boehler in Minnesota Opera's "Rigoletto"

"Verdi’s best music is almost invariably delivered by Rigoletto, daughter Gilda and the Duke. Among the three, I was most impressed by soprano Marie-Eve Munger as Gilda. Seldom will you hear Gilda’s ascents up the scale handled with such tenderness and fluidity. Gilda’s the only endearing character on stage, and Munger makes her the embodiment of sweet adolescent innocence. . . with bass Matt Boehler as a hired assassin, there’s some marvelous low-range menace afoot."

"Icelandic baritone Olafur Sigurdarson, making his Minnesota Opera debut, is magnificent as Rigoletto. So is soprano Marie-Eve Munger as Gilda, her liquid soprano hitting all the high notes Verdi demands. " -Minnesota Post

"Marie-Eve Munger, singing the role of Gilda, presenting an exquisite rendition of "Caro nome". Munger's characterization of this young girl in her final days of living was extraordinary. . . Sparafucile was sung by Matt Boehler. His towering build full bodied bass was perfect for the ominous assassin." -Schmopera
